Oilers roster continues to grow

Posted: Tuesday, November 22, 2005

University of Nevada, Las Vegas junior Kevin Skogley has signed with the Oilers for the 2006 season. Skogley was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2003 draft. The 6-foot-6 left-handed pitcher is from Hermiston, Ore., and is majoring in criminal justice at UNLV.

Austin Yount will pitch and see some action in the infield for the 2006 Oilers. The Stanford University freshman had a very good fall practice and is likely to see playing time at both positions for the Cardinals. Yount is from Paradise Valley, Ariz., and is the son of Larry Yount, who pitched in the Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers organizations. Yount also is the nephew of Robin Yount, a former Brewers player and current Brewers bench coach who has been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Information for Oilers Corner is provided by Mike Baxter, the acting general manager of the Alaska Baseball League team.
