Thanksgiving sale to benefit artists

The women of Soldotna United Methodist Church are sponsoring a Ten Thousand Villages sale, including jewelry, toys, musical instruments and holiday decorations today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Soldotna United Methodist Church on Binkley.

The sale provides fair income to Third World people by marketing their crafts in North America. All proceeds from the sale will return to the program.

The church also is selling Divine chocolate bars. Each bar sold returns a fair price to low-income cocoa farmers in Ghana.

Baha'i plans celebration Sunday

Every year the Baha'is of the world gather to celebrate the Day of the Covenant. On Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Baha'i Community will host a potluck, which is open to the public. The celebration will take place at the Ridgeway Baha'i Center on Knight Drive in Soldotna. For more information, contact Paul Gray at 262-9008.

Christmas choir open to community members

The choir at the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant in Kenai is practicing for its Christmas Eve Cantata. Cherie Brewer will direct "Journey of Promises," by Joseph M. Martin. Members of the community are invited to sing with the choir. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and selected Saturdays at the church. For more information, call Kari Mohn at 283-4258.

Live drive-through Nativity planned

A free drive-through Nativity with live actors and animals will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 at the Kenai Grace Brethren Church, Mile 9.2 of the Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. Viewers are asked to follow traffic control signs: enter on Cinderella, turn right on Magic, follow to McCollum Drive, stop at the intersection and follow the directions of the traffic manager at that point. To facilitate long lines, viewers are encouraged to park their vehicles and walk through. For more information, contact Kenai Grace Brethren Church at 283-4379.

Toys sought for ministry

The New 2 U ministry is looking for good clean toys. The toys must be in good repair. They will be given to those in need for the Christmas season. If you have some toys you wish to donate or have questions, call Joy at 262-0641 or Renee at 262-9319. Toys should be donated by Dec. 3.
