Doris J. "Dee" Reynolds

Longtime Kenai resident Doris J. “Dee” Reynolds died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, after a brief illness at the Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. She was 79.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24 at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow at the Kenai cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband, Clyde W. Reynolds. Pallbearers will be Scott Reynolds, Robert Pevan, Ron Palm, Lucas Reynolds, James Musgrove and Eric Pruett. A gathering will immediately follow the graveside service at Ron and Tracy Palm’s home on Kalifornsky Beach Road.

Mrs. Reynolds was born July 11, 1927, to Nelson and Dorothy LaMaster in Jeffersonville, Ind. She moved to Alaska with her husband of 52 years and their children in 1974. Dee worked in the culinary industry and also was a teacher in the culinary arts, until she retired in 1991.

“Most importantly Dee loved her family. Dee had 11 children, and oh my, did she have grandchildren and she was oh so proud of her great-grandchildren. Dee will be ever so missed. She loved her family at the First Baptist Church of Kenai and all of her friends at the Kenai Senior Center. Dee loved baking and playing pinochle, and just about any dice or card game with her family and friends and she always seemed to win,” her family said.

Mrs. Reynolds was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Kathy Reynolds; twin sisters, Jean and June; brother, Robert LaMaster; and great-granddaughter, Kealee Anderson.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Sandy and Pete Pevan, Lana and Kale Kuivikko, Carolyn and Bret Reed, Linda and Mark Hordemann, Theresa Reynolds, Laura and Ernie Pruett and Tracy and Ron Palm; sons and their spouses, Mike and Barbara Reynolds, Lance and Debbie Reynolds, and Scott and Amanda Reynolds; grandchildren, Robert, Rick and Tamara Pevan, Sandy Goode, Tara Greer, Lucas Reynolds, Julie Anderson, Rachael, Sara and Andy Reynolds, Jebadiah, Adam and Carrie Mcleod, Christine Cunningham, Kathrine “Katy” Cunningham, Elizabeth Giver, Mary Hamby, James Musgrove, Lydia Reynolds, Trevor, Candace and David Hordemann, Mellissa Reynolds, C.W. Reynolds II, Eric Pruett, Megan Pruett, Tiffany Palm, Courtney Palm, Joshua and Vanessa Anglebrandt, Felicity, Patrick and Evelyn Giver; great-grandchildren, Jake Katlin and Collin Pevan, Trisha, Jayleen, Austin and Alexandria Pevan, Connor and Ella Reynolds, Mitchell and Christopher Goode, Nathan and Payten Greer, Kevin, Austin, Alex, Joey and Jake Reynolds, Mackenzie Anderson, KC Hordemann, Trevor Reynolds, William Hamby, Trinity Palm and Tori and Trista Burke.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
