Snowmachine drag racing planned

The Cook Inlet Lions Club will hold a committee meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday to organize snowmachine drag racing. Meet at the Kenai Moose Family Center on the Kenai Spur Highway.

The Lions plan to host five events this winter at the Kenai Floatplane Basin. This will be a major fund-raiser for the organization, allowing it to offer humanitarian services to the community.

To help organize the events, attend the meeting. For more information, call Richard at 776-7652 or Steve at 283-3346.

Totem Tracers meeting rescheduled

Because of the Thanksgiving, the Totem Tracers Genealogy Society meeting at the Kenai Community Library has been rescheduled to 6:30 p.m. the last Thursday of the month.

The discussion will be about Civil War records and pension files. Everyone is welcome.

Concert helps food bank

Country music fans who do not already have tickets to Sunday's Andy Griggs concert at Kenai Central High School can get a reduced admission if they bring at least two cans of food to donate to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. With the food, admission to any unsold seat in the balcony will cost $15. One winner also will get to meet Griggs after the concert, and another will be upgraded to front row seats. The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and includes country singer Gary Allan.

Blood bank plans drives

Blood supplies are critically low, reports the Blood Bank of Alaska Kenai Peninsula Center. It has two drives coming up.

The Kenai Peninsula College blood drive is Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the college's Soldotna campus. The Lars Hansen Memorial Blood Drive is Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Ninilchik School. Drink lots of caffeine-free liquids and eat a good meal before donating. Your donation will help Alaskans.
