Electric Light Parade seeking entrants

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce has applications available for the ninth annual Electric Light Parade, scheduled for Friday. The theme will be "Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child." Applications can be obtained at 402 Overland St. in Kenai. For more information, call 283-7989.

Hospice to hold remembrance celebration

The Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold a Celebration of Remembrance beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Christ Lutheran Church across from Mykel's in Soldotna. The celebration is for community members to gather, celebrate friendships and to remember those who have passed on. Finger foods and desserts will be served. Mike Morgan and Friends will provide the evening's music. The public is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Sue at 262-0453.

Assistance available for commercial fishers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is taking applications from commercial Pacific salmon fishers and crew members to receive cash benefits under the Trade Adjustment Assistance program.

Due to competition of farmed salmon, a payment of up to three cents per pound of salmon sold in 2002 and entitlement to technical services will be available to qualifying fishers. The application deadline is Jan. 20. Applications are available at the NRCS office at 110 Trading Bay, Suite 160, Kenai. For more information, call 283-6287 or (866) 872-3320.

Christmas cookies available

The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ will hold its 24th annual Christmas cookie sale. The boxed cookies come in assorted variety and are sold on a preorder basis only. Cost of cookies is $4 per dozen. Orders are being taken through Dec. 5. Cookies are available for delivery or pick-up Dec. 10 through 13. Kennel club offering dog classes

The Kenai Kennel Club is offering classes at its facility in the former Inlet Card and Craft store in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes include agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally obedience and conformation handling.

Native Christmas bazaar planned
