Six graduates of the Department of Public Safety Training Academy in Sitka are heading to the Kenai Peninsula.
The academy held graduation ceremonies last week for the 30th Alaska Law Enforcement Training Class, which trains future Alaska State Troopers, as well as municipal police officers from around the state.
Among last week's graduates were Michael Cresswell, Elizabeth Haddad and Michael Henry, who now will spend three more weeks in special training before being assigned to the trooper post in Soldotna. Also graduating were Soldotna police officers-to-be, Jose Garcia and Jared Meyer, as well as Alan Nickell, who will join the Seward Police Department.
The graduates have spent the last 14 weeks completing rigorous physical training and challenging academics to become state-certified law enforcement officers.
