Congratulations to the following students for being selected physical education students of the week: eight grade, Leah Stephens and R.J. Munn; seventh grade, Maya Johnson and Mole Morin; and sixth grade, Mariah Wyatt and Ben Gilman.
Molly Watkins won the writing contest sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. The topic for the contest was "Politics of Hunger, What's at Stake?" She won a savings bond and was honored at the chamber lunch.
The annual canned food drive began Nov. 15. The school encourages students, staff, parents and guardians to bring nonperishable food items to the school. The items will be used in the Christmas drive in December.
Alaskan Bikers Advocating Training and Education (ABATE) Thanksgiving dinners should be picked up by 3 p.m. today. Families in need of assistance with delivery can call the school at 283-4896.
The superintendent of schools, Dr. Donna Peterson, will visit Dec. 7. She will observe classroom activities and meet with the staff. An hour also has been set aside as a time for parents to meet informally with her.
Yearbooks are on sale. The cost is $30. Order forms are available at the office.
