Molly Watkins won the writing contest sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. The topic for the contest was "Politics of Hunger, What's at Stake?" She won a savings bond and was honored at the chamber lunch.

The annual canned food drive began Nov. 15. The school encourages students, staff, parents and guardians to bring nonperishable food items to the school. The items will be used in the Christmas drive in December.
