Students are gathering canned food items for the The Salvation Army food drive. Donations will be accepted until Dec. 10. Items donated may be boxed or bagged products that have not exceeded their expiration date.

Students in grades four through six and in beginning band will hold a Christmas program presented by the music instructor, Mr. Audette, at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 in the gymnasium. There will be a program in the spring by those students in grades kindergarten through third.

Battle of the Books practices are held at noon and will continue through mid-January. Mr. Faris and Mrs. Blossom are coaching the third- and fourth-graders and Mrs. Knobf coaches grades five and six. Parents are asked to assist in preparing participants for the district battle by acquiring the book list and encouraging their children to read them. The book list is available at the school during school hours.

The school's custodians will be honored on Custodians Day today with posters created by each class, as well as gift certificates to Jersey Subs.
