Claudia Faye Nichols
Homer resident Claudia Faye Nichols died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at home. She was 57.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Down East Saloon at 3125 East End Road in Homer. A celebration of life and a wake will be held with her family in Oregon at a later date.
Ms. Nichols was born May 26, 1948, in Eugene, Ore. She grew up and received her education there. She furthered her studies at Oregon State University for three years. She moved to Homer in the mid-1980s and worked for Coal Point, Snappy Service and Chuck’s Seafood in Homer.
“Claudia Nichols was a kind and loving person. She was a good mother, sister, daughter and friend. She loved her cats, reading and writing. We will miss her,” her family said.
Ms. Nichols was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine McMillen; and daughter, Jennette Chase.
She is survived by her father, Verle E. McMillen of Coos Bay, Ore.; brothers, James McMillen of Coos Bay and James Lee McMillen of Harrisburg, Ore.; daughters, Claudette Heitman of Eugene and Layli Nichols of Creswell, Ore.; granddaughters, Meghann Dickinson of Eugene, Heather Dickinson of Corvallis, Ore., Jennyfer Elmblade of Eugene, Julie Elmblade of Wasilla, Katie Elmblade of Eugene and Amber Elmblade of Eugene; and grandsons, Benjamin Heitman of Eugene, Emilio Nichols of Creswell and Randy Chase of Eugene.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to be sent in Ms. Nichols’ name to the Homer Animal Friends, P.O. Box 2300, Homer, AK 99603.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
