Parenting issues to be discussed

Pregnant women and mothers of young children are invited to participate in discussions on parenting issues every Monday at 3 p.m. The group has a strong breast-feeding emphasis, is led by peer counselors and meets at the Kenai WIC office in the Seaman Building. For more information, call 283-4707.

Environmental monitoring committee to meet

Business financing to be discussed at seminar

The Kenai Peninsula Small Business Development Center will sponsor a free seminar entitled "Financing a Business" from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Red Diamond Center Suite 16, Kalifornsky Beach Loop Road. Topics being addressed include eligibility criteria for a business loan and the application process. Call 262-7497 for reservations.

Explore your roots

Totem Tracers Genealogy Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The evening discussion will focus on Civil War records and pension files, with examples, questions and answers. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 283-9591.

Help replenish critically low blood supplies

Two blood drives are scheduled this week. The Kenai Peninsula College blood drive is Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Lars Hansen Memorial Blood Drive will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Ninilchik School. Donors are reminded to drink lots of caffeine-free liquids and eat a good meal before donating. For more information, call 260-5672.

Sing-a-grams available

Hospice volunteers are available to perform holiday carol sing-a-grams between Dec. 4 and 24. A donation of $25 is requested. For scheduling, call Alice at 262-4505 or Sue at 262-9162.

Computer classes being offered

PCI Skills Resource Center is offering a 12-hour workshop on Excel. Subjects covered include creating worksheets, formulas, formatting, charts, web queries and what-if analysis. The session will run from 6 until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Seating is limited and preregistration is required. Call 283-4099.

Teleconference will provide MS support

National Multiple Sclerosis Society is hosting a teleconference at five Alaska locations from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Free continuing education credits are available. Locations are Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna, Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Wasilla Valley Medical Center in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Fairbanks and Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau.
