DILLINGHAM (AP) -- A man died after a fight in Dillingham Saturday night, according to police.

When an officer responded to a call about a fight in some apartments, he saw 22-year-old Jesse Patrick Lockuk. A few feet away was Samuel Wassily Alakayak, 36, of Manokotak, lying on the floor with serious head injuries.

Alakayak was transported to the Dillingham hospital, and he died there while being prepared for a flight to Anchorage.

Jesse Lockuk admitted stomping on Alakayak's head, police said. He was jailed on first-degree and second-degree murder charges.

Police said they suspect alcohol was involved.
