The kindergartners in Ms. Bingham's class are celebrating the autumn holiday by having a "famine." The students wanted to know what the first winter was like for the pilgrims. The class nibbled on hard tack (crackers), jerky, dried corn and other pioneer foods as they learned about early American history. The class made a large turkey that covers an entire wall. Each feather of the turkey tells one thing for which the students are thankful.
Many students are participating in the Book-It Reading Program sponsored by Pizza Hut. Families are asked to read for 20 minutes a night.
Parents are reminded to make sure their students come to school with all of their winter gear, such as snowsuits or coats with snowpants, insulated mittens or gloves, hats and snow boots.
