Tracy Erwin's kindergarten and first-grade students have been reading books with parents each night. "Book baggies" are sent home each night with books for students to read to their parents. Since Nov. 1, the students have read 170 books at home.

Mrs. Pettijohn's students designed life-size copies of themselves and used fabrics and other materials to dress their models. Models are displayed in the intermediate hallway and are a creative activity designed to meet state and district art standards.

The PTA thanks all the parents who have joined and been involved in their students' education. For the membership drive, classes were offered a chance to win class parties for the one to get the most to participate. Mrs. Thompson's class had the most participation with 12 families, and the students earned a pizza party. Ms. Buben, Mrs. Erwin and Mr. Kircher's classes won ice cream parties.

The staff and students thank Betty Kline and Amy Steffy for organizing the bake sale, as well as everyone who sent in baked goods. Several donations also were received.

Ms. Southwick is directing the fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade Christmas musical Dec. 4. This year's theme is "Santa's Shopping Network." It is about learning to share with others. In conjunction with the musical, the PTA is sponsoring a food drive to help the food bank. Donations can be dropped off at the musical.
