The Tustumena staff and students were saddened this past week to learn of the untimely death of Peter Johnson, who served as an aide in the Intensive Needs classroom. Mr. Johnson enjoyed working with young people and devoted much of his spare time to taking snapshots for the school's Memory Book. He will be missed.
The custodians were recognized last Friday with posters and cards created by all the classes in appreciation of the hard work they do by keeping the school bright and shiny. The staff and students thank Mr. Dotomain and Ms. Hanson for everything they do to help at the school.
Planning has begun for a day of fun before students are dismissed for the Christmas holidays. Games for children and staff alike will transpire just prior to a visit from Santa. Parents wishing to assist in putting this program together should contact the school.
Tustumena is conducting a food drive for The Salvation Army through Dec. 12. Families may send nonperishable food items to school with their children or drop off their donations at their convenience.
The PTO cash raffle will be Dec. 6. The winner will receive $5,000. All ticket holders are entitled to a catered dinner beginning at 6 p.m. served by the Tustumena Lodge. The drawing will follow at 7 p.m. For more information, call the school.
