Candy fund-raiser begins
Soroptimist International of the Kenai Peninsula is taking orders for See's candy. The deadline to place orders is Thursday. All proceeds will benefit Soroptimist programs. For more information, call Lyn Hodel at 262-9253.
Remembrance celebration set
Hospice of the Central Peninsula is hosting a "Celebration of Remembrance" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Participants can light a candle in the sanctuary in remembrance of a loved one who has died. Desserts and live music will be available in the fellowship hall. Angel ornaments will be sold for $10. Salon-a-thon, auction fund-raiser set
The Alaska Hairlines and the Peninsula Center Mall merchants will host a salon-a-thon from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 4 at the mall. All proceeds will be donated to Alaska troops overseas. Area and celebrity stylists will offer their services for haircuts, esthetician work and manicures. Music, an auction and prizes are some of the planned activities. Christmas cards will be available to fill out for soldiers. For more information,call 262-2678.
Homer Public Health sets schedule
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services Homer Public Health will hold child and adult immunization clinics Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and pregnancy and TB-PPD tests on Tuesdays.

Christmas trees available on refuge
The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge has opened the refuge for the cutting of Christmas trees. Trees are free for personal use with a limit of one per household.
Trees may be taken anywhere on the refuge except within 150 feet of a road, lake, stream, trail, campground or picnic area. Tree cutting is not permitted at the Refuge Headquarters and Visitors Center or along Ski Hill Road. The public is reminded to trim the stumps as close to the ground as possible for aesthetic reasons. For more information, call 262-7021.
