At 4:45 Friday morning streets were unusually active in Soldotna. Parking lots in front of stores hummed as trucks and cars puffed exhaust into the frigid air. As the clock ticked toward 4:50 a.m. they emerged.

2 injured when truck hits tree
An Anchor Point man and his passenger were flown to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage on Thursday in critical condition after their truck crashed into a tree near Cooper Landing.

Former Soldotna resident William A. Wise Sr. died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Arkansas. He was 69.
