Last year the Kenai Peninsula Foundation was given a challenge: If it could raise $25,000, the Alaska Community and Rasmuson foundations would also each contribute $25,000.
The KPF succeeded, and with the ACF and Rasmuson Foundation's contributions, a total of $75,000 was raised to benefit central Kenai Peninsula communities.
This year the challenge was pitched again, and the KPF is seeking to repeat history.
"We want to inform individuals that this is possible," said Jane Stein, a member of the KPF's board of directors.
According to Stein, all the money raised will stay on the peninsula and benefit local communities.
Only donations from individuals will count toward the challenge fund to be matched by the ACF and Rasmuson Foundation. Corporate donations will not be included in the challenge, Stein said.
All the money donated for the challenge will be placed into an unrestricted endowment. The challenge ends June 30.
