Ski team fundraiser support appreciated

Posted: Thursday, November 26, 2009

Thank you to all of the caring community members who came out to support the Kenai Nordic Ski Club and the Rehm sisters. The Sports Swap held on Oct. 24 was the most successful to date as we raised $2,860 for our skiers; and we could not have done it without Wilderness Way, Beemun's, Foot Flare & Wear, Steve Milliron, Glenda Feeken, and all of the families who brought in their used equipment to sell. The community turned out in droves to purchase skis, hockey equipment, skates and more. Thank you!

Simulataneously, we ran a benefit sale for Dani and Katie Rehm and the girls are overwhelmed by the generosity and support they feel from our community. $3,200 in sales from garage sale items and donations were raised and more continues to be raised. We have yet to sell the signed, numbered (1515/1950) Barbara Lavallee tryptich entitled Russia Alaska Reunion. If you have questions about this artwork please call Kacey at 283-3218. You will see both of these young women on the ski trails this winter as Dani will be skiing and Katie will be helping out the team just like their mom Cindy did.

Finally, a huge thank you to the ski booster parents and KCHS. Without your volunteering and support, we would not be able to continue to offer the sports swap each year. See you next year.
