Student earns degree
Ian Matthew Cook of Soldotna graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a bachelor's degree.

Area men enlist in Army
Scott A. Ellis has enlisted in the United States Army as a cavalry scout and has enrolled in the G.I. Bill for up to $19,872 toward full-time schooling. He recently left for basic training at Fort Knox, Ken.
He is the son of Michael K. Ellis of Kenai and Judy A. Ellis of Orlando.
Martin E. Hanson has enlisted in the United States Army as a combat documentation and production specialist. He recently left for basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
He is the son of Mark N. and Maile C. Hanson of Soldotna.
Doctor receives training
Timothy Powers, MD at Central Peninsula General Hospital, recently attended Arthrex shoulder instrumentation and implants training. Included in the training was the latest in sutureless soft tissue repair for arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction. This technology allows the physician to do shoulder repair through less invasive techniques.
