ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Nurses have reached a tentative contract agreement with Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

Hospital negotiators and the bargaining unit for Alaska Nurses Association reached a verbal agreement for a new nursing contract. The association bargains on behalf of nurses at the Soldotna hospital, as well as at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.

A mediator met with the union and hospital negotiators last week. The negotiators will reconvene Dec. 4 to review the proposal and start putting it in writing.

No date has been set for the nurses' ratification vote.

Dianne O'Connell, an association official, said union members will recommend that nurses approve the proposed contract if it stays the same.
