Living with diabetes talk planned

In recognition of November being American Diabetes Month, Central Peninsula General Hospital will host a presentation by Bruce Linton from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the Iliamna Room at CPGH.

Linton, a Kasilof musher who has had Type 1 diabetes for 14 years, will present “Enjoying the Journey to Get to the Starting Line.” For more information, call Ruth Clare at 714-4726.

Fish, Game advisors to discuss river

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building on Kalifornsky Beach Road to discuss Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Kenai River classifications.

Noel tree support sought

The Nikiski Noel Tree will be put up at M&M Market in Nikiski to provide kids with Christmas presents. Nikiski community volunteers and the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will coordinate names and needs of children and families. Cash and check donations can be made to the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce no later than Friday. For more information, call the chamber at 776-5551.

Holiday decorating contest under way

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will accept nominations through Dec. 8 for businesses and residences that are exceptionally well decorated for Christmas.

Sponsored by Homer Electric Association, first- through third-place awards will be given in commercial and residential categories. Winners will be announced at the Dec. 12 chamber luncheon.

Kenai lighting contest plugs in

The Kenai chamber has begun its annual holiday lighting contest. Nominations may be called into the chamber office at 283-7989. Four prizes will be awarded.

Women may register for basketball league

The Kenai Recreation Center is taking applications for the women’s city basketball league.

The team fee of $250 is due by Dec. 8, and the first six teams to register by the deadline will be allowed to play. A player fee of $50 is due before the first game. The season is from January to March. For more information, call 283-3855.

Women’s brunch set

Kenai Aglow will host its annual Christmas brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. The featured speaker will be Nancy Haney. The cost of admission is $10 per person. For more information, call Lisa at 260-3159.
