Caregiver support group to meet

National Family Caregiver Support Program will hold free caregiver support training from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center. It is open to the public. For more information, call 262-1280.

Toastmasters to meet

The Soldotna Toastmasters will meet at 6 p.m. today in Kenai at Cloud Ribelin Real Estate office (next to Paradisos.) There will be planned speeches and impromptu speaking. For more information, call Traci Davis at 262-7591.

Used book sale planned

The Soldotna Public Library volunteers will hold a used book sale from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library. For more information, call 262-4227.

Car seat check up slated

There will be a car seat check up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Central Emergency Services Fire Station No. 1 across for McDonald's in Soldotna.

Safety seat technicians will check to make sure seats are not on a recall list and that they are installed correctly.

Trapping, snaring clinic Saturday

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the community schools program will host a free trapping and snaring clinic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center. Instruction in trapping methods and ways to reduce user group conflicts are the main emphasis.

Morning sessions are geared toward instruction for those with little or no trapping experience.

Topics will include an introduction to trapping, mentoring youth, making trapping a family activity, understanding the regulations, how to release a pet from a trap or snare, ways to recognize and help avoid a trap line while engaged in other recreational activities and tips from the experts on trapping methods for small furbearers.

The afternoon sessions will focus on more advanced snaring and trapping topics.

Vendors sought for bazaar

The Sterling Elementary School PTA will hold a craft fair Saturday and Sunday. The cost for a space is $50 for two days.

Fundraiser makes sweet offer

Soroptimist International of the Kenai Peninsula annual See's candy fundraiser has begun. The group will have tables set up from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna through Christmas.

Cookies by the pound available

Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church will hold its 13th annual cookies buy the pound holiday bake sale beginning at 10 a.m. (until cookies are gone) Dec. 8 at the church at 225 S. Spruce Street in Kenai. Proceeds will benefit the youth group activities.

Raffle fundraiser continues

A raffle fundraiser for a laptop computer, 32-inch flat screen TV or digital handycam to benefit Jack and Sharee Martin has begun. Tickets cost $10 each and available from Ron's Rent It Center, Ron's Honda, Country Foods and Sweeney's. The drawing will be held Dec. 21.
