Event shows community's interest in world affairs

A big "thank you" to all of those who helped make the United Nations Association of the USA celebration of U.N. Day an educational, entertaining and delicious event!

Local son George Holly Jr. delighted the gathering with singing, dancing and story-telling tied to the theme of working together for a better world. He also introduced his former Soldotna High School teacher and our keynote speaker, Sammy Crawford, who shared her experiences with the Model U.N. program in the high schools.

The Music Box made its sound system available, Kaladi Brothers donated coffee and cups, Coca-Cola of Kenai provided beverages, and everybody brought delicious international food to share!

It is encouraging to see our community's interest in this most timely of topics. The next UNA-USA gathering will be 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Kenai Peninsula College in the commons area, where we'll talk about next steps. Everyone is invited to be a part of it. Call 262-9008 for more information.
