Jolly Ol’ Elf brings Christmas to Kenai

Posted: Tuesday, November 28, 2006

Under the brilliance of sunny azure skies with temperatures struggling to rise above zero Christmas officially came to Kenai last Friday with the arrival of Santa Claus a top a Kenai Fire Department ladder truck. Hundreds of families had already gathered inside the Kenai Visitors & Cultural Center awaiting Santa’s arrival. Kenai’s Christmas Queen Anita Necessary assisted by elfin helpers passed out hot chocolate and homemade cookies compliments of the Kenai Senior Citizens and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition to passing out goodies Queen Anita led the electric light parade aboard Iditarod Champion Mitch Seavey’s dog sled. As the reigning Queen of Christmas Anita said she loves the holiday season because of the sense of community that seems to be greater than at any other time of the year, “The happy spirit and the willingness to help others and above all I like Santa Claus and we both encourage all my subjects to be sure and shop locally,” declared Queen Anita. Anyone interested in all the holiday specials and activities may call the Kenai Chamber of Commerce at 262-7989.
