I am writing this letter in response to the question regarding the lights on the new Kenai River bridge.
I moved to Alaska to continue enjoying the great outdoors that seemed to be disappearing in the Lower 48, and even when driving through town, I enjoyed each time I could see the Kenai River. Even though I was looking from a rolled down vehicle window, I would watch a particular rock to check the river level and enjoyed a little piece of serenity with each passing trip.
Now I am aggravated and appalled when I pass over the bridge in the early morning and evening time and have no choice but to look through distracting lights that are blocking the view of a world famous river that most residents brag about for its scenery and fishing.
I believe that the people wanted a new bridge but should have been asked if they wanted their view of the river taken away. I personally would like to save electricity and shut the lights down so the Kenai River's scenery can be enjoyed by more people.
