Kasilof resident Karl C. Ellis died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 at Heritage Place in Soldotna. He was 86.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at the Kasilof Community Church. Pastor Paul Kupferschmid will officiate.

Mr. Ellis was born Aug. 13, 1924 in Salem, Ore. He received a master's degree in theology and also served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Ellis moved to Alaska in 1946 and had lived in Palmer, Anchorage and Valdez before moving to Kasilof.

He was a member of the Kasilof Community Church and he enjoyed reading and outdoor activities.

His family quoted this verse: "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." -- Rev. 21:3-4

Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Nancy Ellis; daughter, Anika Ellis, both of Kasilof; and son, Eric Ellis of Trinity, North Carolina.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
