Soldotna Rotary raffles quilt

The Soldotna Rotary is raffling a queen-size Alaska-themed quilt to benefit Polio Plus, Rotary's effort to end polio world-wide. Ticket are $5 each of 5 for $20. Drawing is to be held Dec. 9. Tickets are available at Sweeney's; Key Bank in Soldotna; Lambe, Tuter and Wagner accounting office; and KDLL radio. For more information, call Luanne at 394-3444.

Cook Inlet Fishermen's Fund to meet

The Cook Inlet Fishermen's Fund will meet at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building on Kalifornsky Beach Road on Monday at 7 p.m. The agenda includes lawsuit discussion and 2011 pland. Fishermen are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Doug at 398-1207, or John at 252-3521.

Kenai Fair craft bazaar coming

The Kenai Peninsula Fair is hosting the annual Christmas Craft Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the fairgrounds in Ninilchik. More than 20 vendors are registered so far. Tables are still available. Contact the fair office at 907-567-3670 for more information.

LEGO tournamant at Challenger Center

The 2010 Kenai Peninsula FIRST LEGO League Tournament is Saturday, Dec. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Challenger Learning Center, 9711 Kenai Spur Highway. Canine Good Citizen test planned Dec. 3

The Kenai Kennel Club will hold a Canine Good Citizen test at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at its facility in the Kenai Mall behind Sears in Kenai.

The test consists of 10 stations that are designed to ensure that a dog can be a respected member of the community because it is trained and conditioned to act mannerly in the home, public places and in the presence of other dogs.

The program is open to all dogs -- purebreds and mixed breeds. The test is not a competition and does not require you and your dog to perform with precision.

Proof of current shot records must be presented before dogs enter the building to test.

The Soldotna Chamber presents the 10th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Wednesday Dec. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Soldotna CES. Come join us for cookies, hot cocoa and hay rides. Bring your camera and take pictures with Santa. For more information call the Chamber, 262-9814.

Sterling Senior Center serves prime rib

The Sterling Senior Center will host a prime rib dinner on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. Served with the prime rib will be a baked potato, green beans, tossed salad, rolls, beverage and a fruit cocktail for dessert. Cost is $15 for adults, $8 for children 3-10, and free for children under 3. The drawing for the winners of the "Cash for Christmas" raffle will be held and the SASCI Choir will perform. Youth ski registration under way

Registration is now open for the Tsalteshi Trails Youth Ski Program. Youth ages 6 to 12 are invited. The program runs from Jan. 15 to March 5, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and some Saturdays.
