Kenai spreads holiday spirit

Posted: Friday, November 29, 2002

While out hunting for deals on toys and sweaters today, don't forget to check out Kenai's traditional holiday celebration, "Christmas Comes to Kenai." This annual event, sponsored by the Kenai Chamber of Commerce, actually has little to do with commerce and a lot to do with community.

Following the chamber's year-long campaign promoting the city, this year's theme is "It's a Hooked on Kenai Christmas --the Best Time of Year." Proving that this really is the best time of year, the chamber has lots of fun events planned, including a crafts fair, village of trees, a storytelling tour, the official lighting of the town Christmas tree, free ice skating and fireworks. These activities should provide lots of fun ways to spread some holiday cheer around the community.

And although he's quite busy these days, it's rumored Santa Claus himself plans to drop in on the festivities -- proving even reindeer can get "Hooked on Kenai."

For a full schedule of Christmas Comes to Kenai events, check the front page of today's Clarion.

Happy holidays!
