Chalkytsik man indicted on murder charges for Thanksgiving stabbing

FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A man from the village of Chalkytsik man was indicted Wednesday on first-degree murder charges for stabbing a man Thanksgiving night.

Billy Jo Druck, 20, was charged with the murder of Adam Bryan Francis during a gathering of friends at 11 p.m. on Nov. 23.

In a criminal complaint based on a witness' account, Druck and Francis had been arguing in the kitchen prior to the stabbing. The witness told police Druck stabbed Francis in the upper chest, then left the apartment. The same witness then tried to stop the bleeding and called 911. Francis died later at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, the complaint said.

Druck was found a short time later by a Fairbanks police. According to the complaint, Druck admitted to police that he had stabbed his friend that night.

Druck is being held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center on $25,000 bail.
