Farewell party for KVB director today

There will be a farewell party for Kathy Tarr, director of the Kenai Convention and Visitors Bureau from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center with complimentary pizza and beer.

Potters guild to sell works

The Kenai Potters Guild will sell clay works in the pottery studio at the Kenai Fine Arts Center, 816 Cook Ave., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Prices are affordable and earnings will go to constructing a kiln in the pottery studio.

Deadline for logo designs Saturday

The Kenai Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a contest for logo design. The logo will be used on district highway signs and placards used on public displays. An award of $200 will be provided to the winning entry. The logo should depict the geography and mission of the district. Amateur artists and students are encouraged to participate.

Support group plans to meet

The Autism/Asperger/Pervasive Developmental Disorders Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bridges Building in Soldotna. The purpose of the support group is to provide support, education and resources to parents and caregivers. Anyone interested in Autism Spectrum Disorders is welcome. The topic of the meeting will be "What Can The Support Group Do For You?" For more information, call Corbi Aaronson at 262-7711.

Aviation safety meeting to be held

There will be an aviation safety meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai Merit Inn. The topic will be "Lubrication Misconceptions" with Ed Barnes of Exxon Corp., an industry expert with a wealth of information.

Ninilchik Fire Department meeting slated

The Ninilchik Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual membership meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ninilchik Emergency Building.

Cook Inlet RCAC board of directors to meet

The board of directors meeting for the Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council will be held Dec. 7 in Anchorage at the Residence Inn. For an agenda or more information call Cook Inlet RCAC at 283-7222 or 1-800-652-7222. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Christmas open house planned

There will be a Christmas open house at the Kenai River Raven Lodge from 5 to 10 p.m. Dec. 11 with refreshments.

CPR/first aid instructors sought

The American Red Cross, Kenai Peninsula Chapter, is seeking candidates for First Aid and CPR Instructor Training. The training will take place from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14, 15 and 16 at the Kenai River Center in Soldotna. Candidates must be currently certified in CPR and First Aid to take the course. The cost of the three-day course is $275. After gaining Red Cross instructor authorization, many additional courses are available in which Red Cross instructors can become certified to teach, including Remote First Aid, Sports Safety Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
