Tennessee group to perform Saturday

Posted: Friday, November 30, 2001

The vocal group Acappella will perform at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium Saturday at 7 p.m. For 17 years, Acappella has overwhelmed audiences with performances that demonstrate the richness of the human voice.

Acappella is one of several top-notch vocal groups who make up the Acappella Company, based in Paris, Tenn. What began as a dream in the mind of Keith Lancaster in early 1980s has now grown to receive international recognition.

Acappella performs more than 100 concerts each year. The group has encountered sell-out crowds all over the United States, Canada, Brazil, Europe, Australia, South Africa, China and Jamaica, as well as the French West Indies. Over the last decade, Acappella has received national recognition for their tight harmonies and innovative vocal techniques.

In 1994, the chamber of commerce in its hometown honored Acappella as ambassadors of Paris, Tenn. Acappella at that time had topped sales of more than one million units since its inception.

This is Acappella's second concert on the Kenai Peninsula. The group performed here for the first time two years ago. Kenai Fellowship Church, a church of Christ, will host the group again this year. For additional information, contact Kenai Fellowship, or visit the Acappella Web site at www.acappella.com.

Tickets for the concert are on sale at Good Books and More in Kenai, The Master's Vineyard in Soldotna, Lion and Lamb and The Bookstore in Homer and at Kenai Fellowship in Kenai. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students 18 and under in advance, and $15 at the door, space permitting.
