CIA netters fall in conference tourney

Nenana defeated the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles, 25-22, 25-15, 25-18, in the Peninsula Conference Volleyball Tournament at Ninilchik School on Thursday.

In other tourney action, Tri Valley beat Lumen Christi (25-9, 25-14, 25-9), Kenny Lake knocked off Wasilla Lake (25-19, 25-16, 25-17) and top-seeded Tok edged Nenana (25-10, 25-13, 19-25, 25-11).

Second-seeded Ninilchik will take on Kenny Lake at 12:45 p.m. today.

Other games today include an 8:45 a.m. tilt between Nikolaevsk and Seldovia, a 10:15 a.m. matchup between Su Valley and Tri Valley and then semifinal contests at 6:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.

The championship contest will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Luke Spruill Duals to begin today

The Luke Spruill Duals wrestling tournament will open today at Kenai Central High School when Homer takes on Skyview and Soldotna faces Nikiski at 4 p.m.

At 6 p.m., Kenai and Homer will meet while Skyview and Seward lock up and then at 8 p.m., SoHi will take on Kenai while Seward wrestles Nikiski.

On Saturday at 9 a.m., Homer and Nikiski will go at it while Skyview faces Soldotna. At 11 a.m., Skyview meets Kenai and Homer faces Seward.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, Skyview and Nikiski will meet and SoHi and Seward will matchup. Then at 3 p.m., Kenai will wrestle Seward and Homer will meet Soldotna and finally at 5 p.m., Kenai and Nikiski will square off in the last match of the tournament.
