WRCC annual meeting Saturday

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its annual membership meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Charlotte's Restaurant in Kenai. For more information, or to R.S.V.P., call 283-9479.

Historians to meet Saturday

The Soldotna Historical Society will hold a board of directors meeting Saturday at River City Books. The public is invited.

Avalanche workshop set

An avalanche hazard recognition workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Soldotna High School. To preregister or for more information, call the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management at 262-4910.

Safe Sitter courses offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital will offer Safe Sitter courses for boys and girls ages 11 to 13 on Jan. 13 and 20, and Feb. 9 and 20 for home-schooled children. The classes are designed to help young people become more confident caregivers.

Government booklet offered

The Financial Assistance Network has recently published a booklet titled "How to get the government to pay for your energy bills." The booklet gives information on how and where to get government help to pay heating bills.

Donations needed for community closet

The Independent Living Center is in the process of putting together a community closet to provide those with disabilities adaptive equipment at a low cost. The center is looking for donations of wheelchairs, walkers, equipment for the vision and hearing impaired.
