JUNEAU (AP) -- A grand jury indicted an employee of the state Department of Education and Early Development with stealing $150,000.

Gary Martin has been indicted on charges of theft, scheme to defraud, tampering with public records, misconduct and forgery. All the offenses except one are felonies. He is in custody. A trial date of Feb. 10 was set.

Martin worked as a procurement manager for the state library. He is accused of presenting the education department with phony bills for services rendered by two nonexistent companies.

Martin allegedly created false documents for the work and then had state checks issued to the companies, which he cashed.

He is currently in custody. Bail has not been set.
