A heavy snow watch was issued for today by the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management for the southern peninsula.
Officials said snow could be expected starting early this morning, and become heavy at times at elevations above 500 feet south of Clam Gulch.
Accumulations are expected between 10 to 14 inches in the hills.
By late afternoon, the snow should begin to mix with rain.
A watch means conditions are favorable for hazardous winter weather in and close to the watch area.
