In November, physical education teacher Mr. Kelso and Rachel Parra, of the North Peninsula Recreation Service Area, ran the annual Elks Hoop Shoot Competition. The competition was open to boys and girls ages 8 to 13. Each participant got 25 shots from the free throw line. Winners are determined by the most shots made. This year, the school had 115 participants. Winners will have the opportunity to compete on a local level at the Kenai Recreation Center in January. The competition will include participants from all over the peninsula. The staff would like to congratulate all of the students who participated and recognize the following winners: Christianna Garcia, first, and Jessica Ross, second, girls ages 8 to 9; Lincoln Johnson, first, and Dylan Griffith, second, boys ages 8 to 9; Madeline Knoll, first, and Marlee Cunningham, second, girls ages 10 to 11; Jayden Tumbaga, first, and Doogun Seater, second, boys ages 10 to 11; Casey Coupchiak, first, and Jessica Samskar, second, girls ages 12 to 13; and Jesse Carrasco, first, and Travis Hamilton, boys ages 12 to 13.
