Cassie Elizabeth Smith of Soldotna and Matthew Edward Norden of Canon City, Colo., were married in an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at Columbine Point Outdoor Chapel at Snow Mountain Ranch in Colorado. Longtime family friend Pastor Charles Kinyon of Milliken, Colo. officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Edward and Kelley Smith of Soldotna. She is a 2000 graduated of Soldotna High School and a 2005 graduate of Eastern Washington University. She teaches second grade in Kiowa, Colo.

Tiffany Eck and Darbie Murphy were her bridesmaids.

The groom is the son of Ed and Janice Norden of Canon City. He is a 1997 graduate of Canon City High School at a 2001 graduate of Western State College. He is employed as a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service.

Groomsmen were Ryan Gore and Luke Norden. Ty Webb, Luke Connelley and Tim Harding were the ushers.

Dinner and a reception also were held at Snow Mountain Ranch. Dinner included Alaska salmon and cheesecake.

Cassie and Matthew met December 2004 in Alaska. They later moved to Colorado, where Matt proposed at Taylor Park, near Gunnison, Colo.
