Cookie fundraiser continues

The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ Church is taking orders for Christmas cookies. The cost is $4 per dozen.

For more information or to place an order call Liz at 262-5525, Diane at 262-1714 or Rick at 262-1763 by Tuesday. Cookies will be ready for pick-up or delivery Dec. 12.

Cribbage tourney set

The Cook Inlet Lions will host its annual cribbage tournament at 3 p.m. Saturdays beginning this week at the American Legion Post No. 20 on the corner of Cook and Main Streets in Kenai. It is open to the public. For more information, call Raymond at 776-5688 or Bob at 776-5339.

Gardeners to gather

The Central Peninsula Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at The Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road near the Bridge Access Road intersection.

The featured speaker will be Rita Jo Shoultz of Fritz Creek Gardens in Homer.

KWF plans open house

The Kenai Watershed Forum will hold a holiday open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at its office on the second floor of the Blazy Mall, 44539 Sterling Highway, Suite 202, Soldotna. Refreshments will be served. It is open to the public.

School district committee members needed

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Board of Education is soliciting members of the community interested in participating in the review of board bylaws and protocols.

Specifically, three temporary subcommittees (conduct and ethics, structure, and accountability) have been formed to look at how the board of education conducts its business.

The meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. each evening prior to regular school board meetings, beginning Jan. 14 and are expected to be completed by the spring.

The following information may be sent via e-mail to Sally Tachick at stachick@kpbsd.k12.ak.us, by calling 714-8836, or in person at the school district office: name, contact information (including e-mail address, phone number and mailing address), reason for wishing to participate, and subcommittee interest.

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Dec. 14.

Women voters to meet

The Central Peninsula League of Women Voters will meet at noon Dec. 14 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Attendees are ask to bring a dish for a potluck luncheon. It is open to the public.

Counseling association seeks members

The Kenai Peninsula Counseling Association is seeking counseling professionals, students and interested community members. The group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Peninsula Community Health Center at 230 E. Marydale Ave., Suite 2, in Soldotna. For more information, e-mail Beth at bselby@alaska.net.

Kids reading program continues

The Triumvirate Bookstore Frequent Reader Program continues. Kids can pick out one free book, a reading calendar and reading program rules at the bookstore in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Bookstore hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Each time a reader returns their initialed calendar (weekly or monthly) to the bookstore, they can pick out another free book and get their calendar punched.
