Good day to all of my Nikiski neighbors.

The Christmas season is upon us and before you know it we will be writing 2008 on our checks. It has been great to see many Nikiski residents getting outside during the warmer weather, and using the various trails.

Bakflipz is a digital game room that opened behind Tazmoz's Computer Spa in Nikiski. For more information, call 776-8288.

Don't forget to attend "The Last Vanishing Act" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Nikiski High School auditorium. The musical in two acts was written by Joe Rizzo, performed by the Nikiski High School Drama Department, with choreography by Chris Morin and set designs by Phil Morin. The cost of tickets is $10 at the door. For more information, call Joe Rizzo at 776-3456.

Nikiski Boy Scout Troop 659 will sell popcorn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Safeway in Kenai.

An informative meeting to discuss a Weight Watchers program will be held at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 at Nikiski North Star Elementary School. The program will begin at 4 p.m. Jan. 14 at the school. For more information, call Sharon at 262-7534.

The monthly Nikiski Senior Center board meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Nikiski Senior Center. The meeting is open to public comment from 12:45 to 1 p.m.

A Christmas party will be held starting at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at the senior center. Santa Claus will visit the center from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The scrappy crafters will meet from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 at the senior center. The format is an open session and participants are urged to bring a project to work on. For more information, call 776-7654.

The senior center will not have a game night Dec. 21.

A Christmas program will be held at Nikiski High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 featuring the students of Nikiski North Star's prekindergarten, kindergarten and first-grade classes.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Bruce Aitken on Dec. 3; Matthew Bumbaugh on Dec. 4; Hank Every on Dec. 5; Rose Hughley and Modine Thompson on Dec. 6; Penny Smith and Ronda Holben on Dec. 7; and Sabrina Johns on Dec. 9.

Happy Anniversary to Don and Carol Leeper and William and Wilma Bartlett on Dec. 6.
