A new quilt shop is about to open right here on the Kenai Peninsula. Later this week Terry and Dennis DiBetta will announce the date for the grand opening of Quilt Kits Alaska located just 14 minutes north of Kenai on Douglas Lake. Watch for publication of details and directions.
When asked what prompted them to open a quilt shop, Terry said, "As a small child I remember standing just about nose level to the fabric counter watching the lady flip the fabric off the bolts, thump, thump, thump....and thinking what a great job she had. I knew that one day I wanted to do that!"
Being a quilt shop owner is not a new idea for Terry and Dennis. They almost purchased a shop about 12 years ago. The dream never died but lay dormant for several years and many reasons. It has only been as recent as last July that the coals were stirred and the decision to jump in with both feet was made. Now that the construction of her 900 square foot, log cabin-look shop, overlooking beautiful Douglas Lake is coming close to being completed, they are excited to announce the impending grand opening of Quilt Kits Alaska.
Quilt Kits Alaska is off the beaten path but well worth the effort to get there! This new shop will cater to a quilter's every desire with over 500 batiks (fast becoming one of the best loved fabrics among quilters), a great selection of flannels, other top line fabrics, and the newest in books, patterns and tools. Having just returned from the International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas, Terry says she has "lots of new ideas and projects to keep the local quilter so busy that cabin fever will never have a chance to set in"!
