Community invited to healing Mass

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church will host a Eucharistic Healing Mass at 7 p.m. today at the church at 222 W. West Redoubt Ave. in Soldotna.

The service is offered as a way to help in the healing of the community and to continue to returning to normal from a tragedy of the shooting at Central Peninsula Hospital.

Gift fair slated

The Kenaitze Indian Tribe will host "The Old Town Holiday Gift Shop" featuring authentic Alaska Native arts and crafts from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Dec. 12, 13, 19 and 20. For more information call Kim Dolchok at 398-8867.

Scout popcorn sale continues

Nikiski Boy Scout Troop 659 will sell popcorn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Safeway. Funds benefit the troop and the local scout district.

Elks host craft fair

Kenai Elks Lodge No. 2425 will hold an arts and crafts fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Santa will be at the lodge from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with cookies and hot chocolate for the children. Pictures with Santa may be purchased for $5. There also will be a bake sale and food court. Historical society to meet

The Kenai Historical Society invites anyone who was living in the Kenai or Nikiski area at the time of statehood to share memories of those days when the society meets at 1:15 p.m. Sunday downstairs at the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant.

A roundtable discussion will include such subjects as work opportunities, road conditions, schools, churches, stores, recreation and medical facilities in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The public is invited to listen and/or participate.

Benefit dinner, auction slated

A benefit dinner and live and silent auction fundraiser for Karen Grabowski will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Soldotna Sports Center. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. live and silent auctions will begin at 7 p.m.

Grabowski was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and has been undergoing treatments.
