Chamber welcomes League of Women Voters

The speaker at today's Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce luncheon will be Diana McKenny of the League of Women Voters. The luncheon is at the Riverside House and begins at noon.

Safari Club meets tonight

Public health nurse to visit southern peninsula

The Homer Public Health nurse will visit Ninilchik and Voznesenka schools Wednesday. The visit to Ninilchik will last from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the visit to Voznesenka will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The nurse will visit Nikolaevsk School on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 235-8857 or (800) 770-8857.

Multiple Sclerosis Society offers seminar Thursday

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host an interactive teleconference across the United States and Canada on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Central Peninsula residents can attend in the Iliamna Room at Central Peninsula General Hospital.

CIRCAC board meets Friday

Luau fund-raiser set for Friday

The Kenaitze Head Start is hosting a Christmas Luau celebration dinner and dance fund-raiser from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Music will be provided by Bull Don and the Moose Nuggets. Tickets are $20 each and are available at the Salamatof Native Association office in Kenai. For more information, call 283-7864.

Snaring seminar Saturday

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge will offer a seminar on snaring Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. Local trappers will demonstrate various trapping methods. Participants are advised to dress for being outside. The snaring seminar is not the trapper orientation class needed to obtain a permit to trap on the refuge.

Red Cross offering first aid classes

The American Red Cross is offering two first aid and safety classes on Saturday and Dec. 16. Both courses will include first aid, adult and infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Red Cross course meets all OSHA and workplace requirements.

Remembrance celebration planned

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold its annual Celebration of Remembrance at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Music will be provided by Food for the Soul, and there will be refreshments and bereavement materials available. There is no charge.

Small business center sponsoring workshop

The Small Business Development Center is sponsoring a seminar titled "Developing Your Business Plan," on Dec. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. It will be hosted by Mark Gregory. To register, or for more information, call 262-7497.

Young Marines accepting applications

The Alaska Young Marines is accepting applications for its next boot camp that begins Jan. 16. Boys and girls ages 8 to 18 are welcome. There will be a presentation to parents of prospective Young Marine recruits on Dec. 23 at the Elks Lodge in Soldotna.
