Last Wednesday, shortly after 10 a.m., we received an automated phone call from local EMS telling us what was going on at the hospital -- a mile from our home -- advising us to please stay clear, and later a message left again from EMS, "the situation had been resolved and it is OK to travel in the area."
I was very grateful for this immediate warning and impressed that we have such a system in place. It gives me a sense of comfort to know our community has an emergency plan ready.
Thank you EMS and "the powers that be."
