Christmas activities set to praise

The following churches will host Christmas events:

* The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ -- The Sunday school will present "The Very Best Gift Ever" for its annual Christmas play at 7 p.m. Wednesday.; On Dec. 17, the church will have a birthday party for Jesus with gift-giving and song service at 7 p.m.; a Christmas cantata "The Way He Came" will highlight the Christmas service at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 21; and the new year will be welcomed in with a Watchnight Service at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Worship, communion, and fellowship will finish out 2008 and bring in 2009. Visitors are welcomed to join at all events. For more information, call 262-3165. For transportation, call 262-9693.

* Grace Lutheran Church and School -- Christmas for kids, a program to share the meaning of Christmas for youth 3 years old through grade six will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Dec. 13 at the church on Ciechanski, one block, off Kalifornsky Beach Road. There will be Bible teaching, handicrafts, old fashioned games, making and decorating Christmas cookies, as well as a Christmas card. * The First Baptist Church of Kenai at 12815 Kenai Spur Highway -- Christmas Cantata "Come, Let Us Adore Him" by Lari Goss at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14; and Candlelight service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24. For more information, call Joy McCaul at 283-7672.

Bible study continues

The Soldotna Day Aglow meets at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at Peninsula Christian Center for prayer and Bible study, Beloved Disciple, by Beth Moore.

Fellowship and coffee will begin at 9:30 a.m. Baby-sitting will be provided. The center is at the corner of Cohoe and Farnsworth behind The Salvation Army store. For more information, call 262-2569.

Saturday Bible classes slated

The Nikiski Nazarine Church will hold a women's Bible study at 9 a.m. Saturdays at the church at Mile 18 of the Kenai Spur Highway. The eight-week Beth Moore class, titled "Stepping up," will be about Psalms. It is open to all women.

This Hope to perform

This Hope, and acappella group who present ministry through music will perform at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at Soldotna Bible Chapel at 300 W. Marydale Ave. For more information, call Jennifer Duran at 262-4865

Group gathers for support

Soldotna United Methodist Church conducts a life, love and loss support group from noon to 1 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of the month at the church at 158 S. Binkley St. Any type of loss is open for discussion.

Echo Lake Bible study ongoing

A King James Bible study group meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays on East Echo Lake Road. For more information, call 262-3509.

Prayer group meets for breakfast

The United Methodist Church of the New Covenant in Kenai hosts a women's prayer and share group at 7 a.m. Mondays at Charlotte's Restaurant in Kenai. It is open to all women.

Nikiski Aglow meeting set

Nikiski Aglow meets at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at Nikiski New Hope Fellowship at Mile 23 of the Kenai Spur Highway. Women may attend Bible study, prayer and worship.

Clothes Quarters open

The Clothes Quarters is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays at 225 S. Spruce St. behind Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Kenai. The store sells clothes and free trade coffee. For more information, call 283-9371 or 283-4555.

Free clothes available

Clothes 4 U Ministry offers free clothing to benefit the community from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at First Baptist Church Soldotna Mission House at 119 Little Ave. in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-4806.
