Safe Sitter classes offered
Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold Safe Sitter classes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 21 at the hospital. Children must be 11 years old at the time of class and be preregistered. National Guard hosts food drive
The Alaska Army National Guard is hosting a yellow ribbon Christmas tree and food drive for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.
The armory will serve as a collection point for nonperishable food for the food bank from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 23.
Interested community members drop of a can of food, hang a yellow ribbon on the tree and sign a Christmas message book for the deployed troops at 105 S. Forest Drive in Kenai.
Park updates Web site
The National Park Service recently updated the Kenai National Fjords Park Web site at www.nps.gov/kefj/home/htm.
The site was redesigned to provide better information for visitors on area residents, business and government agencies working with the park.

Reading carnival planned
The Kenai Peninsula Reading Council will host the third annual Peninsula Reading Carnival on Jan. 29.
