Safe Sitter classes offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold Safe Sitter classes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 21 at the hospital. Children must be 11 years old at the time of class and be preregistered. The cost is $50 per student and includes all class materials. For more information, call Michelle McKay at 714-4775.

National Guard hosts food drive

The Alaska Army National Guard is hosting a yellow ribbon Christmas tree and food drive for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.

The armory will serve as a collection point for nonperishable food for the food bank from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 23.

Interested community members drop of a can of food, hang a yellow ribbon on the tree and sign a Christmas message book for the deployed troops at 105 S. Forest Drive in Kenai.

The Kenai Peninsula Reading Council will host the third annual Peninsula Reading Carnival on Jan. 29.
