Joe Rizzo, president of the new Triumvirate theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall, directs Aubrey, Jayton and Shaylee Rizzo with Carla Jenness.

The new Triumvirate theatre had its first opening night last week as Carla Jenness presented her adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic novel Dandelion Wine. “It’s a tale of a boy’s magical summer that’s funny, scary, thrilling and heart warming all at the same time. It was well received by the audiences and my talented cast had a ball performing it,” said Jenness. Saturday afternoon the Triumvirate thespians held their official grand opening with lots of free food, prizes and live music prior to the performance of Dandelion Wine.

Next up at the Triumvirate theatre will be Joe Rizzo’s production of A Christmas Carol, “From the pages of Dickens’ classic Christmas tale comes our play that is just brimming with holiday spirit. We are flying in our Scrooge from Wasilla, A.J. Simms, a dear friend of mine who has a long list of TV commercials and professional productions to his credit and actually grew up in this area and is coming back to do this part for us and he is absolutely marvelous as Scrooge,” said Rizzo. A Christmas Carol will be performed December 15th-17th, and 22nd- 23rd. Tickets are available at the Triumvirate Book Store in the Mall.

Rizzo, who is president of the new non-profit Triumvirate organization, says the creation of the new theatre has taken a lot of building and hauling, “Our theatre seats were donated to us by the Kambe movie theatre, so our theatre seats are comfortable and well seasoned and give you that up close intimate feeling of a small theatre, and of course we have a book store here with some four to five thousand previously read editions, so we had a lot of book shelves to build, but it’s been an exciting labor of love and we’re looking forward to a lot of great runs and opportunities for local talent to perform,” said Rizzo.
