Sterling resident Ethel M. "Pat" Ashworth died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at home from natural causes. She was 73.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Christensen Funeral Home in DeQuincy, La.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home. She will be buried in the Good Hope Cemetery following the services. Pallbearers will be James Ashworth, Scotty Taylor, Jason Taylor, Timothy Ashworth, Andrew Taylor and Michael Brown.

Mrs. Ashworth was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Doniphan, Mo. She moved to Anchorage in 1995 and then to Sterling in 1998. She was a mother, housewife, grandma and great-grandma. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting and gardening.

"Mom worked many jobs over the years. Her moving force was always her eight children. She always found room on her lap for one more child and time for a nice back scratch," her family said.

Mrs. Ashworth was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Ashworth; sons, David and Dennis Ashworth; and parents, Lester and Deronda Griffin.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Bishop and her husband, John, of Sterling, Rhonda Taylor and her husband, Andrew, of DeQuincy, La., and Shanie Malone and her husband, Dan, of Soldotna; sons, Wayne Ashworth and his wife, Tina, of Anchorage, Charlie Ashworth and his wife, Julie, of Longville, La., and Roger Ashworth and his wife, Kara, of Houston; daughter-in-law, Tina Ashworth, widow of Dennis, of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests, memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Central Peninsula, P.O. Box 2584, Soldotna, AK 99669.
