Recipes wanted

The Clarion is seeking recipes to include in its Wednesday Food section. Send recipes to news@peninsulaclarion.com, fax them to 283-3299 or drop them by the office at 150 Trading Bay Drive in Kenai. Name, address, contact number and brief description of how you came up with or came by the recipe is needed. For more information, call Nan Misner at 335-1241 or e-mail her at nancianna.misner@peninsulaclarion.com.

Recipes will be printed in the order received and as space is available.

Playground events set

The Soldotna Community Playground Committee is seeking donations for a silent auction as part of a fundraising event. The proceeds raised will go toward the building of the playground at Soldotna Creek Park.

The group also has available for purchase pickets that can be scribed with names and wooden salmon that can be decorated by families. These items will be placed as part of the playground.

H1N1 volunteers sought by Tuesday

The Community Mass Dispensing Clinic planned for Tuesday needs help from the community. The Central Peninsula H1N1 Task Force is looking for nurses and people to help with errands, registration and checkout.

The clinic will be split into two sessions: The first session from 1 to 4 p.m. is mainly where nurses and volunteers are needed. The session is for home-school, preschool, Head Start and daycare children.

Volunteers also are needed for the second session, from 5 to 8 p.m. This part of the clinic is open to ages 6 months and older. Both sessions will be held at the Kenai National Guard Armory at 105 S. Forest Drive in Kenai.

Pool schedules announced

The Kenai and Skyview high schools pool hours are:

* Kenai Central High School -- 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., Lap Swim Monday through Fridays; 9 to 11 a.m. Physical Therapy -- Mondays; 3 to 5 p.m. Piranaha Swim Team, Monday - Fridays; 6 to 7 p.m. Lap Swim, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 6 to 7:30 p.m. master swim Thursdays; and pool rentals are available. The cost is $4 Lap swim or Open swim, $35 for a punch card/ 10 punches on the card, $15 for 1/2 hour of private lessons. For more information, call 283-7476.

* Skyview High School -- Water Aerobics one, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m.; Water Aerobics two, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m.; lap/open exercise, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; and lap/open exercise, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 262-3905 or 260-2365.

Breakfast with Santa offered

The Friends of the Kenai Library will host breakfast with Santa 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 12 in PJ's Diner in the Kenai Airport.

The cost is $5 per child and $10 per adult. Photos with Santa with up to three children will be $10.

Proceeds will benefit the library.
