ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The Matanuska Telephone Association will return nearly $3 million in capital credit payments to members of the cooperative.
Checks are to be mailed Friday.
The payments represent profits from operating the company and are distributed in proportion to the amount of services each member purchased.
The company said members who joined the cooperative as recently as 1999 will get a refund. With the latest check, people who were members from 1966 to 1980 will have received a 100 percent refund of all their capital credits from those years, said Greg Berberich, chief executive officer.
The association serves customers in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the Chugiak and Eagle River areas.
