Church hosts dessert and show
Peninsula Grace Brethren Church will hold its 12th annual Christmas Dessert today, Saturday, Dec. 14 and 15. The event includes skits, special music, drama, carol singing and the musical "Light of the World," written by Jim and Carol Cymbal of the Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York City. Plus a special holiday dessert.
All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the church, Mile 19.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road. Tickets cost $5 and can be ordered online at www.peninsulagrace.org, at the Good Books and More store in Kenai or by calling 262-6442.
Toys sought for ministry
The New 2 U Ministry will have its toy giveaway for those in need in the area communities on Saturday at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 159 Binkley (the log building), in Soldotna. SolFirst to present 'Christmas in New York'
Soldotna First Assembly of God Church presents its annual Christmas program Sunday at 10:30 a.m. "Christmas in New York" is an original drama set in post-Sept. 11 New York. It asks the question "Can there really be a Christmas after losing the Trade Towers?" and follows the efforts of a tough group of homeless street kids trying to put together their own version of the Christmas story. Helping them understand the story is a children's choir on their way to a performance.
Following the performance, there will be a Christmas potluck. It is open to the public. SolFirst is behind The Salvation Army store on the Kenai Spur Highway. A nursery will be available.
'High Tea with Teddy' planned
Soldotna First Assembly of God will host "High Tea with Teddy" for boys and girls ages 6 and older from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Vintage Moose Tea Room. Children must bring a responsible adult with them, along with their favorite teddy bear, stuffed animal or toy. Cost for the dress-up occasion is $20 per couple and includes "high tea" (light meal), as well as door prizes, special music and storytelling. Seating is limited. Take-a-Break to meet Tuesday
The Take-a-Break group will meet Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Paradisos Restaurant in Kenai. The speaker and special feature will be Linda Steinmaker, owner and operator of Petal Pushers. She will present ideas for holiday decorating with limited funds. She is a single mom and will share her, "Please, can I do it myself?" approach to life. Children's program scheduled
The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ Church in Soldotna will celebrate the Christmas season with "Love Letters of Christmas," performed by the Sunday school department, ages 1 through 12. The performance will be Wednesday at 7 p.m.
